The Bhaktivedanta Academy, based in Sridhama Mayapur, was established in the early 1980’s. The devotees educated there are imbibed with the philosophy, science, and culture of Gaudiya Vaisnavism and are thus trained to teach and demonstrate the essential principles of that culture to others.

The Academy is located in Sridham Mayapura, the holy birthplace of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, 135 kilometers (about 90 miles) north of Kolkata in West Bengal, India.

Presently the Academy runs two brahminicael schools, the Sri Rupanuga Paramarthika Vidyapitha and the Yajna Varaha Vidyaksetra. Five more schools/colleges will be introduced over the next several years. The Academy's curriculum is based on the fourteen books of Vedic knowledge with emphasis placed on the study of Srimad Bhagavatam.

The Bhaktivedanta Academy seeks to provide a facility for it's members to study, practice, and disseminate the teachings of Srimad Bhagavatam, with corollary studies of the standard works of the Gaudiya Vaisnava acaryas and the branches of Vedic philosophy, culture, and science in the context of Srimad Bhagavatam and Srila Prabhupada’s teachings.
